A collective effort in Marsa in favour of the Environment

Children and adolescents from Marsa were recently rewarded with a collection of brand new books after collecting more than 400 kilogrammes in plastic waste for recycling. The initiative, created by the Marsa Local Council, is supported by GO and VJ Salomone, two organisations with a significant presence in, and commitment to, Marsa.

The books, together with a commemorative medal, were presented by the Minister for the Environment the Hon. Jose’ Herrera and the Mayor of Marsa Francis Debono. Also present were GO’s Senior Manager – Marketing, Daniela Bagnaschi, and VJ Salomone Managing Director, Adrian Salomone. All present praised the youngsters for their wholehearted participation in the project to collect plastic bottle tops, and for the example they are setting both in terms of awareness and action to counter the damage which plastics cause to the environment.

During the prize giving, and as part of its commitment to support education and literacy, the Marsa Local Council also donated a number of books to the Headmaster of the local primary school, Mr Norbert Pulis.
