HSBC UK Contact Centre Malta raises a cup for World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

The HSBC UK Contact Centre Malta (UKCC) in Swatar joined in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ in aid of UK-based Macmillan Cancer Support charity and raised not just baking agents but more than a total of €1,500.
Staff members brought in more than 50 types of cakes, muffins, ftiras, and delicacies to raise the funds. A variety of fun activities such as ‘Guess the Cake’, ‘Bake a Cake’, and ‘Pick n Mix’, as well as a raffle and tea, coffee, and cake trolleys further sweetened the charity drive.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan UK’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. In 2015, the charity raised a record £27.6 million (€31.8 million). While Macmillan doesn’t have a registered presence in Malta, its’ support network is often the first point of recommendation by doctors in Malta to cancer patients and their families.
“Giving back to society is a hallmark of HSBC and it’s always inspiring to see the enthusiasm of our employees who join in and donate generously over a coffee and cake,” said Robert Vaughan, director, HSBC UKCC.
The HSBC UKCC regularly organises various fundraising and awareness activities to support the society it operates in, while staff frequently volunteer in the community. Earlier this year, the Contact Centre raised and donated €1,500 to the Malta Dementia Society. The HSBC UKCC funds enabled the NGO to present Malta’s first ever dementia-themed play in Maltese language. The play, Il-Masġar tal-Allat Siekta (The orchard of the silent gods), was presented on 2nd October as part of the Science in the City 2016 festival.
Established in 2006, the Centre has grown through the years with now more than 450 employees assisting UK customers. Exciting opportunities exist to join HSBC UKCC Malta and be part of a great team.
