€7,000 raised during Christmas sweets cooking marathon organised by Tangent Club Malta at Villa Bighi
Following the success of the Marathon held in December at Villa Bighi, the funds raised were presented to Fondazzjoni Sebħ during a ceremony held recently.
The funds raised will go towards Fondazzjoni Sebħ’s After Care Service, which supports young people who are preparing to leave residential care and begin living independently. This initiative further strengthens investment in their education and personal development, enabling them to enter adulthood with greater confidence and stability.
Xjenza Malta, which played a key role in enabling Tangent Club, under the leadership of President Marthese Micallef, to organise this marathon, thanked everyone involved, including volunteers, those who attended, donated, and supported this initiative in every possible way.
The service has a number of professionals who work with these young people from the age of 15 to begin preparing them for independent living and to help them plan their future despite the various difficulties they may have faced.
Silvio Scerri, Chief Executive Officer of Xjenza Malta, said that “the assistance provided by Xjenza Malta in this project is part of our social responsibility because we believe in the cause of Tangent Club and the project of Fondazzjoni Sebħ, through which the aftercare service offers hope to young people who have reached the point of taking the next step in their lives.”
He added that this is a project that offers a future to young people, hence why Xjenza Malta is committed to helping projects of this kind, in the future.
Marthese Micallef President of Tangent Club Malta expressed that “Tangent Club, during the Christmas Bakes Marathon, raised €7,000 for the children of Fondazzjoni Sebħ, and not just that! Tangent sparked a strong sense of unity and solidarity among all the sponsors and volunteers. People who had never me before worked side by side, hand in hand, with generous hearts, as if they were one big family. The atmosphere was so positive that many have already asked to take part again next year”.
Kerry Hermitage reiterated that as Fondazzjoni Sebħ “We are so incredibly grateful for this wonderful donation that has been collected which will go far to support the youth within our aftercare services as they transition into adulthood.
To Tangent Club for your hard work and dedication in making this possible, to Xjenza Malta for all your support in hosting this event, to every volunteer who gave your time… thank you for caring for these youth and sending the message that they too deserve the right opportunities and start to adult life!”
