GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare proudly sponsors Mobile Dental Clinic

GSK Consumer Healthcare (Malta) is proud to be a major sponsor of the new mobile dental clinic opening [today] in Malta. This is an initiative of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the University of Malta which is being supported by the Research Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta. The aim of this project is to increase awareness of the importance of oral healthcare nationwide as well as helping to provide invaluable epidemiological data regarding the health of the nation’s teeth.

Commenting on the launch, Monica Abdilla, Country Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare said: “We are very pleased to see the launch of the mobile dental clinic. GSK is a science-based global healthcare company with a major focus on innovation. We are continually investing in research and development to strengthen our understanding of the barriers to good Oral Health, focusing on strong consumer insight and a science-led pipeline of products. Our mission is to help people to do more, feel better and live longer. As part of this mission, our oral healthcare business focuses specifically on making the world’s mouths healthier. We aim to achieve this by continuously working to develop and bring to market new, cutting-edge products for a wide range of oral healthcare needs with a strong focus on specialist oral health.”

Ms. Abdilla added: “At GSK, science remains at the heart of everything we do, and as a leader in oral health science we are dedicated to understanding key Oral Health conditions and how we can continually develop new improved solutions to help our consumers relieve the pain of sensitivity and improve the quality of their lives. As many as one in three people suffer from sensitive teeth. 1 Even though this condition has been shown to have a real impact on quality of life,2,3 research has shown that as many as half of sufferers may be enduring the symptoms of sensitive teeth in silence without seeking help from their dentist.1 Approximately 70% or more of dentine hypersensitivity sufferers are not currently using a sensitivity toothpaste4.”

She continued: “The outreach function of the mobile dental clinic will contribute to increasing awareness of the importance of looking after our teeth and brushing them for 2 minutes twice a day, whilst also providing vital information with regard to the oral health status of the nation. We are happy to support such worthwhile initiatives in Malta.”
