Melita revises pricing structure in line with Central Bank of Malta instructions

As of 1 July 2022, Melita Limited will revise the way customers are billed for services in line with instructions received from the Central Bank of Malta. These instructions, which have been sent to all telecoms operators in Malta, are based on the provisions of the revised EU Payment Services Directive.

The charge which for many years has applied to customers who do not pay their bills automatically through Direct Debit Mandate (DDM) or Pre-Authorised Credit Card (PACC) will be replaced by an increase in price of €1 for Melita products. This means that the extra cost of manual processing of payment has now been incorporated into the price of the product rather than being applied separately.

On the other hand, all customers who pay their bills automatically through Direct Debit Mandate (DDM) or Pre-Authorised Credit Card (PACC) will receive a €1 discount on all Melita products. This means there is absolutely no change to the actual cost of services for these clients.

These changes are being brought into effect on 1 July 2022 as requested by the Central Bank of Malta and as required by law, with the knowledge of the Malta Communications Authority and the Malta Consumer Affairs Authority.
