Supporting people with Psoriasis

Supporting people with psoriasis and being their advocate is one of the aims of Malta Psoriasis Association. It also aims to raise awareness of psoriasis at home, school, and work place as well as ensuring that patients know their rights and support available Researching psoriasis

Patient associations have given immense contributions to patients’ wellbeing and are established as a powerful voice on behalf of the patient. PAM was founded some 25 years ago but after a very active period of years, interest waned and slowly the society went into hibernation. It is in everybody’s interest for the society to be revived in the background of the dire need for continuous efforts to raise awareness of the condition, new concepts about psoriasis going well beyond the skin, and the arrival of powerful new modalities of treatment.

A meeting of the Psoriasis Association will be held at The Palace Hotel, Sliema on Saturday 19 November between 1100 and 1245. The agenda will include:

Three persons with a first-hand knowledge of psoriasis will talk about why they believe a Psoriasis Patient Association is crucial for those with the condition and their families.

After discussion, a steering committee will be appointed for a specified period before a formal committee takes over. A programme of events for 2017 will be proposed in due course as well as links with similar societies abroad.

A talk by Consultant Rheumatologist and proposed steering committee member Dr Bernard Coleiro MD FRCP on Psoriasis and how it can affect other organs apart from the skin.
