MCAST art graduates exhibit at Studio 104

Seven fine art graduates from MCAST have joined forces to put up a varied exhibition of sculpture, painting, digital photography, print and drawings, which give a fresh and dynamic view of contemporary culture today.

‘Disclosure’ – by Aaron Bezzina, Lara Camilleri, Leanne Lewis, Lara Manara, Lara Pace Michela Said and Ezekiel Vassallo – is on at Studio 104, Fine Art Space, Triq Santa Lucija, Valletta until Saturday.

Dramatic and perhaps gruesome statements are made through Aaron Bezzina’s  ‘functional’ sculpture that invites the viewer to form a personal dialogue with his work and addresses subject matters such as religion, punishment and soft, gentle femininity.

Other works highlight the ‘fake’ society we live in and the editorial processes that streams the images that we are presented with daily through the mass media. Ezekiel Vassallo creates powerful interior, digital images, inspired by local Maltese architecture, that are flooded with light and atmosphere and originate from his simplistic hand-crafted miniature models.

Strong compositions throughout the exhibition of delightful sensitive charcoal drawings and prints highlight the artists’ interpretations of femininity, beauty and the plight to preserve our environment. Exquisite, floating compositions are made through transfer print and needlecraft.

The exhibition, curated by owner and artist Michelle Morrissey, is open everyday from 11am to 5pm. For private viewing, call 27280028 or 99282806.
