Final preparations are underway for the sixth edition of the Malta Robotics Olympiad (MRO), partnered by ‘GO for the future’. Malta’s largest technology event will get underway tomorrow (24 March 2017) at MFCC in Ta’Qali and will feature a range of competitions, workshops, and presentations for all the family. MRO 2017 will also feature a much anticipated real life, movie scale Wall-E robot. The event will be open to the public from 4pm to 10pm on Friday and from 9am to 10pm on Saturday.

Other highlights of MRO 2017 will include The Big Challenge, also sponsored by GO, in which autonomous robots built by Maltese teams will tackle a challenging obstacle course. The heats of The Big Challenge will start on Friday evening at 6pm with the final runs taking place on Saturday from 2pm. Another much anticipated event is the drone racing, part of the ERSA Drone Nationals. Qualifications will take place on Friday afternoon from 4pm with racing taking place throughout Saturday from 10am onwards. The final race is scheduled for 8.30pm. Visitors to the MRO will also be able to enjoy a number of hands-on workshops, watch an eSports tournament, and attend a number of presentations on technology and robotics, including the participation via direct link of C.E.R.N.
