Local company TAPP Water (Malta) Ltd has followed up its donation of four of its water filters last year to Fondazzjoni Sebħ with the donation of a further 13 water filters.

The new filters have been installed at Il-Milja in Zejtun, a shelter for 12 families, survivors of domestic violence, an after care residential service for three families and a community support service facility.

Fondazzjoni Sebħ is a non-government organisation that offers residential services for children and young people, a shelter and after care service for female survivors of violence and their children, as well as a community service for residents of Hamrun and Marsa. It is also working on more projects, including the development of a therapeutic centre.

TAPP Water (Malta) Ltd CEO Phil Richards said he was proud to make this small contribution to the daily running of the homes, which apart from ensuring single use plastics do not have to enter these places, also makes their lives more environmentally friendly, with cheaper running costs.

These are just a few of the comments made by the women, some of them victims of domestic violence, following the installation of the TAPP Water filters:

• “It is convenient to have since it saves me trips to the store.”
• “I really like that I do not have to carry bundles of water every time I go shopping, especially now that I am pregnant and cannot carry heavy objects.”
• “Now that I have this (filter), I never run out of drinking water.”
• “It is a pity how much plastic I used to have to throw out before I had this water filter.”
• “I am saving money since I do not have to constantly buy bottles of water.”

Mr Richards said he fully supported the foundation’s ethos of striving to nurture an environment for growth, recovery and fulfilment, ensuring the dignity and of each individual, children and families for a more inclusive society.
