European week for waste reduction
Mark your calendars for this year’s edition of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) which will take place between the 18th and 26th of November. Get ready for a week filled with remarkable actions aimed at reducing, reusing, and recycling waste, as well as organising inspiring clean-up initiatives.
The theme for 2023: Packaging Waste
This year’s theme is Packaging Waste. In Europe alone, a staggering 173kg of packaging waste is generated per inhabitant causing immense harm to our planet.
While the focus for this year’s theme will be on packaging waste, any action related to the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, or Recycle) and clean-up initiatives are still eligible for the European Week for Waste Reduction.
The most important thing is that you raise awareness and communicate your action between the 18th and 26th of November even if you are planning to carry your action before or after this week. Like this, your efforts and actions can inspire others to join the cause.
PLAN YOUR ACTION
When planning your action, we kindly request that you carefully consider the waste generated both during the preparation and in the aftermath. Our utmost goal is to ensure that our actions genuinely contribute to waste reduction.
Similarly, if you are thinking of organising a clean-up, we strongly encourage you to see this as an opportunity to raise awareness about the crucial aspects of waste management, including the environmental threats it presents and the untapped potential to transform waste into valuable resources. Consider the collection of data on the waste collected during the clean-up event and use this information to create greater awareness and understanding of this pressing issue.
BE A WINNER!
