Minds Malta offering Level 4 Diploma in Child Care (The Early Years)

Minds Malta, a licensed training institution, is offering a one-year Diploma in Child Care (The Early Years) accredited with the National Commission for Further and Higher Education. The diploma programme, starting in October, leads to an MQF Level 4 certification. Those who successfully complete the course will be able to work in a child care centre environment as child care workers with children aged 0-3.

Students have the option of following either a morning or an evening course and are also required to carry out a number of placement hours during the study year, for which they will be assisted through a list of collaborating child care centres.

The morning lectures are being held twice a week in Birkirkara from 9 a.m. to noon and the evening lectures are being held twice a week in Lija from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A team of lecturers, all professionals and experienced in their field, including early childhood educators, psychologists and a speech and language therapist, will be covering such topics as Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Health and Safety, Legal Issues, Disability and Overall Care and Development of the Child’s Early Years. Those attending this programme will also gain qualifications in Food Handling and Paediatric First Aid.

A Board of Studies ensures that the course runs according to the necessary quality and assurance standards. This is the second cohort to be admitted since Minds Malta was set up in 2013.
A spokesperson for Minds Malta said: “We are committed to providing our students not only with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, but also with the capacity to reflect on themselves and be able to connect with the child in the most sensitive and empathic manner possible while remaining professional in their role.”

Some of the lectures will be open to child carers to help them in their Continuous Professional Development (CPD). For more information on these lectures, entry requirements, collaborating childcare centres and how to apply visit http://www.mindsmalta.com.
