BOV ANNOUNCES NEW CORRESPONDENT BANKING RELATIONSHIP WITH BNY

Bank of Valletta (“BOV”) has announced a new correspondent banking relationship with The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (“BNY”), a global financial services company. This expands the range of services available to BOV customers by increasing access to U.S. Dollar cash clearing, complementing BOV’s existing correspondent banking relationship with Citibank.

BOV CEO Kenneth Farrugia said that “Working with BNY strengthens our ability to provide clients with efficient and reliable international banking services. It also reflects our continued focus on enhancing customer experience through enhanced cash clearing access, brokerage and treasury-related services.”

BOV Chairperson Gordon Cordina added, “The relationship with BNY, which involves meeting rigorous requirements to work with a leading global financial institution, is a testament to the strong financial standing and reputation that Bank of Valletta has built over the years. Apart from market confidence and shareholder trust, our performance has also been recognised by international credit rating agencies such as Fitch Ratings and S&P Global.”

Earlier this year, Bank of Valletta expanded its correspondent banking network with new partnerships, including UBS Switzerland, to support its international payment capabilities in most non-Eurozone European currencies, including Swiss, Danish, Polish, Hungarian, and Czech currencies. The addition of BNY builds on these efforts, offering clients greater flexibility and access in USD clearing.
