The Travellers have just realised their new single “Fejn Mar il-Kwiet?” along with a music video release.
Let’s face it. The Maltese were never people who strived to conserve peace and quiet. The typical Mediterranean way of life is well reflected in our traditions and culture, with a twist of our own. Our Arabic and Sicilian roots are very much still apparent, and centuries of colonisations from various empires affected the way we look and interpret the world around us. The typical problems that we see in Mediterranean countries are also very much prevalent in Malta, but obviously they are entrenched with problems unique to our small country.

At times it seems that although we speak and discuss the preservation of nature, respect towards each other, better governance, the appreciation of our heritage and preservation of our language, it just stops at that. It just stops at words, at discussions, and the wheel just keeps on turning as it always has with no fundamental change ever happening. Or at least that is how it feels. “Fejn mar il-kwiet? Li qatt ma konna famuzi ghalih!”. We talk, we discuss, but do we act? Do we ever really consider the long term impact of today’s decisions? Are we just chasing the next win every 5 years? And as time moves quickly by, it becomes more apparent that “il-kwiet” is becoming a memory rather than a reality. Do we just reminisce about the past, without actually learning from it? Fejn mar il kwiet?
