Maltese companies unite for corporate responsibility day

Seven socially responsible corporations in Malta joined forces yesterday to offer voluntary support for the 11th Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day, which is organised annually on 19 March.

Around 400 employees from Arrow Pharma, Deloitte, Farsons Group, Gasan Group, HSBC Bank Malta, MSV Life, and Tumas Group dedicated this day for worthy causes across Malta. These companies also received support from Junior Chamber International (JCI)Malta, Macpherson Paints, Red Cross Malta, and the Maltese Association of The Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of Malta.

“As responsible companies, we embrace CSR Day as a special opportunity to join forces in support of the community,” said HSBC’s Doriette Camilleri, on behalf of the CSR Day Organising Committee, formed of representatives from participating companies. “By working with local caring organisations, such as residential homes we provide tangible support to children and adults facing difficult social situations. The works carried out by volunteers on CSR Day range from redecoration and painting to necessary structural work. CSR Day’s final aim is to improve the residents’ quality of life.”

Residential homes and caring institutions that benefited from voluntary work during CSR day 2012 include: Arka Foundation in Għajnsielem, Caritas Shelter San Blas, Dar Qalb ta’ Gesu’ in Santa Venera, Dar Merhba Bik in Balzan, Dar il-Wens in Kalkara, Mount Carmel Hospital in Attard, St Joseph’s Home in Santa Venera, and St Theresa Home in Zurrieq.
