Josanne Cassar | Locals share their generosity at the new Lidl store in Gozo

The new Lidl store in Gozo opened its doors in Xewkija last week, making it the 7th Lidl store on the Maltese slands. During the opening days, Lidl joined forces once again with Puttinu Cares to help them raise funds for children suffering from cancer. Volunteers from Puttinu Cares helped selling doughnuts and coffee provided by Lidl to the customers. At the end of the two fundraising days (Thursday and Saturday) the volunteers had raised the astonishing amount of over € 2,000 for the Puttinu Cares Foundation.

“For Lidl this initiative is part of our ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility programme, whereby Lidl is committed to build a brighter future for people in need and to create value for the society in which we operate. The relationship between Puttinu Cares and us is growing stronger. In the past 3 years we have been the proud main sponsor of the Puttinu Cares Football Marathon. Last year we opened our new store in Qormi and also organised a fund raising activity in aid to Puttinu Cares. We would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and the generous people who gave a donation for a good cause” said a representative from Lidl Malta.

Puttinu Cares have been helping families with children who have cancer offering them care and hospitality since 2002. In these years of intense activity, the association has helped a lot of families thanks to funds collected in various initiatives which are organised regularly.
