ALIVE cyclists look forward to their challenge

On 19th July, thirty-eight cyclists will be leaving Malta for London from where they will be cycling all the way to Brussels, before finishing in Paris – an endurance route of 720 kilometres. The cyclists, who will be embarking on the Malta Airport ALIVE 2013 Cycling Challenge for Cancer, are raising funds for breast cancer research projects funded by the University’s Research, Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT).

A group of Maltese residents and cyclists in Brussels will be joining the ALIVE team on their way into the city. The Belgian company Billiet, located in Tielt, will be hosting the ALIVE team to lunch while another group of cyclists from Tielt community will also be accompanying the ALIVE team for part of the route towards Brussels. Billiet is sponsoring one of the cyclists, André Agius.

The Malta Airport ALIVE 2013 Cycling Challenge for Cancer is a collaboration between ALIVE Charity Foundation made up of a group of cyclists who use their favourite sport to raise funds for good causes, the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation that brings together breast cancer survivors, patients and well wishers, and the Research, Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta.

Alegria Dance Company has kindly offered to present a flamenco dance performance during a fundraising dinner being held on 17th July at Xara Lodge in Rabat, at 20:30hrs. During this activity, a number of paintings by artists from Malta will be auctioned while several lovely prizes generously donated by various companies will be raffled.
