The latest model of the hugely popular Ford Fiesta was unveiled during a press conference held at the GasanZammit premises in Mriehel on Friday. This is the first car from the extensive GasanZammit portfolio to be launched since the merger between the two car companies last November. Mr Stefan Deguara, CEO for GasanZammit Motors Ltd. welcomed those present and briefly spoke about the recent merger between the automotive interests of Gasan Group and Zammit Group. The strategic merger announced last August saw the coming together of two of Malta’s motor industry key players to become GasanZammit Motors Ltd.

“This is an exciting time,” said Mr. Stefan Deguara, “In light of this merger we now offer a more exciting and frequent line-up of new models every year. This year alone promises to be extremely exciting for GasanZammit with new models being launched across most car segments and budgets”

The Ford Fiesta is a contemporary motoring icon. First launched in 1976, it is still going strong today and has frequently been voted the most popular car in the UK. In 2012 the automotive data intelligence provider JATO Dynamics named the Ford fiesta,  Europe’s top-selling small car of 2012, and the second most popular car overall,*with one purchased every two minutes on average. With over 15 million sold last year and the first new models rolling off the production line at Ford’s Cologne factory just before Christmas, this Fiesta is set to follow in the successful wheels of its predecessors. As well as protecting a 35 year legacy, it also introduces a whole host of gadgets and new technologies to its class – previously unexplored territory for the company. Among other new features the new Ford Fiesta offers push-button start, a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission, and heated and leather-trimmed seats.
