20131129 - Liquigas Fake Seal Notice - Eng

Consumers should check LPG cylinder seals before use Liquigas offers to help its customers

Following its announcement that some LPG cylinders have been filled illegally, and in an unregulated way, at a third party site, Liquigas Malta is advising consumers to check LPG cylinder seals before use.

Liquigas Malta genuine seals have an injection point on top, between the words ‘Liquigas’ and ‘Malta’ and a square profile rim.

Liquigas is offering to replace any of its yellow and green cylinders, which are still unused and which have a fake seal.

‘’As everyone can surely understand, this is not our responsibility and we are ourselves victims of fraud in this case; some of our own cylinders appear to have been filled by third parties before being placed on the market,’’ explained Mr Roberto Capelluto, Liquigas Malta Chief Executive Officer.

‘’In any case, safety and service remain a Liquigas priority and we have also informed the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) of this measure.’’

Liquigas is prepared to pick up unused cylinders with fake seals from homes and businesses and to replace them with regular, and properly filled, Liquigas cylinders at no additional cost.

For further details and assistance consumers may contact Liquigas Call Centre which is available 24/7, on telephone number 2165 1661/5 or the MCCAA on telephone number 2395 2000.
