ISL staff choose Malta Guide Dogs Foundation

Staff at the Information Systems (ISL) Group voted to make a donation to the Malta Guide Dogs Foundation (MGDF) following a poll among the more than 55 members of staff.

The MGDF was one of 11 NGOs who benefited from funds raised by the Group’s Sports and Social Club, who traditionally make a collection in appreciation for the Group’s directors, who in turn pass it on to charity.

Employee representatives Vicky Vella and Daniel Mangion, and Simon Calleja Urry, Director, were briefed by board members of the MGDF, Chairman Joseph Stafrace with his guide dog Toby and Malcolm J Naudi, on what it means to own a guide dog and the foundation’s work.

They were particularly impressed with guide dogs’ intelligence since they are taught to ‘constructively disobey’ their owners should it mean that a command could put the owner in any form of danger. “It was truly an inspirational moment for us all and we are proud to have helped the foundation,” they said.
