Over the Christmas period, Atlas Insurance and its employees raised funds through donations in aid of three NGOs in order to help alleviate the negative impact that COVID-19 had on the fund-raising opportunities of these organisations.

In total, Atlas donated a total of €7,500. The NGOs benefitting from this donation are the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation, Caritas and the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA).

The Foodbank Lifeline Foundation helps individuals and families facing a short-term crisis through the provision of emergency food supplies, under the belief that no person should suffer the indignity of hunger. The donation will be used to buy non-perishable food items to create weekly food packs for families who are referred to Foodbank Lifeline each week.

Caritas seeks to alleviate poverty and promote human development and social justice, while adhering to the guiding values and principles of the Christian faith. During the pandemic, Caritas has seen an increase in individuals seeking help with mental health issues and struggling to make ends meet, and this donation will support the provision of counselling services and their social work unit.

The AAA was established as a dog shelter to provide rescued dogs a safe place to live and where their volunteers can give them the much needed love they need until being re-homed.  The funds collected will be going towards veterinary bills which cover the care for all dogs at the sanctuary, as well as an ongoing neutering campaign.

“Every Christmas is a time of giving and the last one was a particular one as many people faced increased hardships due to the ongoing pandemic. Team Atlas has done a great job, as we do every year, in contributing funds to organisations that are in need of help. We were particularly pleased that our team collected a record amount this year when it was so needed.” said Matthew von Brockdorff, Managing Director and CEO of Atlas Insurance.

He added: “We know that the last year has been challenging for everyone, especially for NGOs that were determined to continue operating despite having less funds due to limitations on fund-raising initiatives. We are sure these three organisations will make good use of the funds for the benefit of the communities they serve.”
