The BioArte Ltd launches revolutionary test

The BioArte Ltd (TBA), a pioneering biotechnology platform company, has launched a revolutionary Vaginal Microbiome Test (VMT) designed to empower women to take control of their vaginal and reproductive health, and make informed decisions.

Women of all ages can benefit from such a test since it provides actionable insights into their vaginal microbiota. The test is particularly beneficial to women:
with recurrent vaginal infections, including bacterial vaginosis (BV), yeast infections or urinary tract infections (UTIs);
facing fertility challenges, Including repeated implantation failure or recurrent miscarriages;
experiencing chronic discomfort, such as pelvic pain, irritation or unusual discharge;
wanting to proactively monitor and maintain their vaginal health at any stage of life, from adolescence to menopause; and
planning for pregnancy or addressing changes during menopause, including shifts in comfort, hormones or intimacy.
Vaginal microbiota makes up about 9% of a woman’s total microbiota and is a dynamic ecosystem that evolves with life. Factors like pregnancy, contraception, the menstrual cycle, and sexual activity can shift the balance of bacteria, making it essential to understand and monitor their microbiota.
A healthy vaginal microbiome is dominated by Lactobacillus bacteria, which act as natural protectors, including Lactobacillus crispatus being the most protective. Other common species include Lactobacillus iners, Lactobacillus gasseri and Lactobacillus jensenii, though their roles can vary depending on age, hormones and individual microbiome composition.
Protective Lactobacillus species help to maintain a low pH environment in the vagina, which:
guards against infections by harmful micro-organisms;
enhances fertility and supports healthy pregnancies; and
helps maintain overall reproductive and immune health.
“When the vaginal microbiome is balanced, it protects and supports your health,” Dr Christine Podrini, Senior R&D Analyst with The BioArte. “It protects against infections, including BV, fungal infections like Candida and sexually transmitted infections (STIs); it supports fertility and pregnancy by creating a stable environment and reducing risks of complications, like inflammation and preterm birth; and it enhances reproductive and immune health, helping maintain long-term well-being.
“Our Vaginal Microbiome Test takes a comprehensive approach — we examine not only bacterial communities, but also screen for viruses such as HPV, and bacteriophages, which are viruses that infect bacteria. This broad analysis provides a deeper understanding of each woman’s unique vaginal ecosystem.”
However, when disrupted, it can lead to infections, discomfort and other complications, Dr Podrini said, adding this vaginal dysbiosis can lead to recurrent infections, discomfort and even more serious conditions.
The BioArte VMT helps women:
identify imbalances in their microbiota;
understand the root causes of recurring issues; and
provides personalised insights to restore and maintain optimal health.
VMT kits can be ordered directly from The BioArte and are delivered discreetly to your home – no clinic visits are required. Follow simple instructions to take a quick and painless swab. After The BioArte have conducted their analysis, they will send you a personalised, easy-to-understand report with actionable insights.
Dr Podrini said The BioArte’s test, using advanced technology – Whole Genome Sequencing – analyses all micro-organisms in the vaginal microbiome with exceptional precision and depth. “While our library detects up to 41,200 microbial species, we focus specifically on the bacteria, fungi and viruses that impact vaginal health,” she said.
“The detailed report produced contains a full breakdown of your microbiota composition and steps to improve your health.”
