Sirens Women’s Team wins BOV Water Polo Knockout

The Sirens’ Water Polo Women’s team won the BOV Water Polo Women’s Knockout competition to round up all the awards this season.

Facing rivals Sliema in the BOV Water Polo Knockout Final, the team from St Paul’s Bay emerged victorious with a score of 14-11 to take the coveted trophy.

Sirens started out very strong and took and early 4-0 lead in the first session with Sliema trying to make up the deficit ith 2 penalties from Sara Centani with Sirens captain Denise Micallef scoring in the last second to make the score 6-3. Sirens went for the change of sides with an 8-4 lead and administered their lead in the second half to end the third session 11-7 and closing the game at 14-11

Sirens received the Knockout Trophy from Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta and Randolph Cauchi, Vice-President of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta, a trophy which complemented the ASA Super Cup, the BOV Winter League and the BOV Summer Championship trophies they won this season.

Bank of Valletta has been a main supporter of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta since 2008, and continues to promote sports as part of an active and healthier lifestyle in this 50th year of its operations.
