Rugby World Cup 2015 theme at DHL Express

The 55 members of staff at DHL Express in Luqa enjoyed an Appreciation Week last week, an annual occurrence that enables the company to show its appreciation to the commitment and hard work of their dedicated staff.

This year again DHL Express in Malta worked with Global Sponsorship to appreciate its people under the exciting theme of Rugby World Cup 2015. Rugby shows DHL’s staff the importance of working as a team with a can do attitude, speed, getting passes right first time and playing with passion. The week happily coinciding with the Rugby international last Saturday between Malta and Switzerland
Apart from having social occasions for the staff, with food and drinks being brought in and a majjalata being held on Friday evening, members of staff attended a workshop on Saturday morning in which the subject was the Employee Opinion Survey.
In the afternoon, they were then hosted to the rugby international, held at the Hibs Ground. For many it was their first experience of a rugby match, but the atmosphere and the battling display of the Malta team was appreciated by all.
During the half time break, Sports Parliamentary Secretary Chris Agius drew the winning child who is to be hosted by DHL at the Rugby World Cup in England in September.
The winning name was Joseph Spiteri, 11, a product of the Valletta Lions Rugby Football Club, who has been playing rugby since last season. Joe will be presenting the match ball to the referee at the Scotland versus United States game, taking place on Sunday, 27 September, 2015, at 2.30 p.m. at the Elland Road ground in Leeds.
DHL will also be hosting Joe’s father for the trip and they will be accompanied by Malta Rugby Football Union Youth Committee Chairman Joseph Borda.
“We were extremely lucky that our Appreciation Week coincided with a major rugby international and, because of DHL’s sponsorship of the Rugby World Cup 2015, it was understandable that rugby should be the theme,” DHL Express Country Manager, Malta, Charles Schiavone said.
“We congratulate Joe Spiteri and wish him a truly memorable trip to England for the Rugby World Cup. Joe and his father will receive return flights and transfers to Leeds, two tickets to the match and two nights’ accommodation with a local DHL family. Joe will also receive an official DHL RWC merchandise kit, including uniform and rugby ball, plus a thank-you gift of a match ball delivery photo as a memento.”
