Join THE MALTA organized APP run on may 5, 2019

Come join the party at our very own Wings for Life World Run. Pack your kit, your smiles and your great sense of fun to help our Organized App Run raise money and awareness for spinal cord injury by running for those who can’t … yet.

This is the Wings for Life World Run

People across the planet start running, walking and rolling together, all at the same time – 12pm – on May 5. Thirty minutes later, a real or virtual Catcher Car, the moving finish line, starts the chase. And it’s only when the Catcher Car passes you that your race is over.

What is the Organized App Run?

To get as many people as possible involved worldwide, communities like ours have Organized App Runs, the virtual branches of the Wings for Life World Run. We’re all small groups meeting at favourite local running trails to share in the joy and spirit of the day – or night.

This is a race for everyone – a world of people doing something wonderful – no experience required.

Here’s how you can be part of our Organized App Run

You simply download the Wings for Life World Run Appfrom the Apple store or Google Play, find your nearest Organized App Run – mine! – and register to join.

Log in either with your existing account if you’re already a Wings for Life World Runner or by creating a new account. Then just register for Race Day – with that done, sign up for the Malta Organized App Run.

When the global results list comes out, your name will be on there alongside Individual App Runners and people who take part in Event Locations at exactly the same time across the globe.

Who can join?

Everyone! You don’t have to be a runner. You don’t have to cover miles and miles. You don’t even have to wear exercise gear– but what you do need is a sense of joy, a smile on your face and the willingness to share an amazing experience with the people around you.

Why you should join my Organized App Run

First, we’re all coming together to run for those who can’t. 100% of the money we raise on May 5 goes to life-changing research projects that give hope to the millions of people affected by spinal cord injuries. Is there a greater reason than that?

It’s also a wonderful opportunity to rally your crew, get your family involved, challenge your colleagues and have loads of fun in the process. The more people we have getting involved, the better the party atmosphere and huge sense of fun – and the best bit is you just run, walk or roll as far as you’re able to. No pressure!

About the Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation

Worldwide, millions of people are dependent on a wheelchair after having sustained a spinal cord injury, most often as the result of a traffic accident or a fall. Wings for Life is a not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation with a single mission to find a cure for spinal cord injury. Since 2004, Wings for Life has funded life-changing research projects and clinical trials around the globe. While a cure is still to be found, steady progress has been made. One hundred per cent of the Wings for Life World Run entry fees and fundraising from this global running event will help work toward Wings for Life’s ultimate goal. Every step taken at the Wings for Life World Run and with the Wings for Life World Run App is a step in the right direction – http://www.wingsforlife.com.

About the Wings for Life World Run

On one day each year the Wings for Life World Run is held simultaneously in numerous locations and via the App across the world, everyone starting at the same time, whether day or night and all with the same goal – to raise money for the Wings for Life Foundation. Under its unique format, participants run as far as they can until they are passed by a moving finish line, the “Catcher Car,” which chases runners along the course or virtual in the App, gradually getting faster until each participant has been caught. This moving finish line allows participants of any ability to complete the run – the slower ones are passed early while ultra athletes go on for hours. 100% of entry fees and donations go toward helping to find a cure for spinal cord injury; and in the fifth editions, since it was launched in 2014, the World Run has attracted more than 500,000 people from 193 nationalities to participate in more than 66 countries across all seven continents.

The Wings for Life World Run App

The Wings for Life World Run App allows everyone, everywhere, to join the global movement. By activating the App, runners can take part in the Wings for Life World Run, chased by a virtual Catcher Car, at the same time as all Wings for Life World Runners across the globe. People can set out their own course when running individually with the App and in many locations around the world Organized App Runs take place, where people run in groups using the App.
