Malta Public Transport Announces Transition to Winter Schedule on Weekdays

Malta Public Transport is announcing the transition to its Winter Schedule starting Monday, 23rd September 2024 on weekdays. There will be no changes made to the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) schedules.
Key changes include the removal of summer extensions for routes 49 (Valletta – Għadira), 74 (Valletta – Żurrieq), 109/109A (Siġġiewi – Baħrija), and 101/101B (Mġarr – Ċirkewwa), reverting to regular winter routes.

Additionally, several routes will see increased frequency during peak hours, including route 43 (Valletta – Naxxar), route 61 (Valletta – Ħaż-Żebbuġ), route 72 (Valletta – Qrendi), route 73 (Valletta – Żurrieq), and route 90 (Valletta – Ħaż-Żabbar).

Some routes will revert to their Winter schedules with adjusted frequencies, such as routes 212 (Tas – Sliema – Buġibba), which will change from 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours; route 221 (Buġibba – Ċirkewwa), shifting from 15 to 30 minutes during peak hours; and route 222 (Tas-Sliema – Ċirkewwa), with a frequency change from 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours.

Routes 223 (Buġibba – Għajn Tuffieħa) and 225 (Tas – Sliema – Għajn Tuffieħa) will operate every 60 minutes, while routes 311 (Rabat, Għawdex – Dwejra) and 322 (Mġarr – Marsalforn) will operate every 60 and 90 minutes, respectively. Route 53 (Valletta – Rabat) will see a frequency change from 30 to 60 minutes. Routes X1A (Ċirkewwa – Università ta’ Malta) and 150 (Lascaris – MCAST) will resume operations in line with the start of the scholastic year.

In addition to these changes, night routes will also be adjusted starting 22nd September 2024. Route N13 (Valletta – San Ġiljan) will offer higher frequency on Fridays and Saturdays, while routes N48 (Valletta – Buġibba) and N91 (Valletta – Marsaskala) will have extended weekend services. From 6th October 2024, route TD10 (Valletta – Marsaxlokk) will provide more frequent service on Sundays.
The timetables located at the bus stops will be updated during this period.

Malta Public Transport reminds the public that Day Routes, Night Routes, and certain Special Services are part of the Free Public Transport scheme. To benefit from free transport, passengers must have a valid personalised Tallinja Card and tap it against the ticket machine each time they board the bus. Passengers without Tallinja Cards will need to purchase a ticket on board.
