JCI Malta is attempting to boost people’s morale as well as the local economy through its new initiative Think Inside the Box. 

The scope of this project is simple – buy a care package for yourself, for a loved one, or to donate to a charity of your choice – to boost your morale or someone else’s, while at the same time, helping a local business that is struggling during this Covid-19 shutdown.

Each week will be dedicated to a different business and people will be able to buy their care packages through the JCI Malta website from Monday to Friday. These will be delivered on Saturday. Each care package costs €25.95 which includes delivery charges.

“We are very aware of both the mental health and economic issues that have emerged due to Covid-19 and the repercussions of these problems. Therefore we wanted to find a way to tackle the problem and help the community, even in a small way, by engaging the public and local businesses because one cannot thrive without the other. We are offering everyone the opportunity to treat themselves, or a friend or charity, by allowing themselves to buy a care package – and getting a nice surprise at the end of the week. We have a range of businesses lined up targeting different interests and ages – there’s really something for everyone!” said Nicole Borg, National President of JCI Malta.

JCI Malta, the national organisation of an international NGO, seeks to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change, through initiatives such as this one. In 2020, JCI Malta organised the very successful Buy a Meal project that raised almost €20,000 while helping the restaurant industry as well as the less fortunate in Malta and Gozo. These initiatives are in line with JCI RISE, the international initiative that seeks to lift up businesses, individuals and communities through the work of JCI members globally.
