Globalisation’s backbone of supply chain under focus at Logistics Forum

Whether you are reading this on a paper or on a screen, a series of logistical processes brought them into your hands. This complex web of operations – known as supply chain management – is fast becoming the pivotal function of successful business practices.
To provide a knowledge-based perspective on the evolution of supply chain, the organisers of the 1st Logistics Managers & Practitioners Forum have invited Haydn Sandvig of Logistics Learning Alliance (LLA) from UK to share his experience of mentoring in supply chain and logistics training.
Sandvig, who brings a mix of government and commercial sector approach to supply chain and logistics training, will hold a free seminar on “Building a logistics and supply chain knowledge society” on Thursday 18th June 2015, ahead of the start of the Forum on Friday 19th June 2015.
“Increased integration and collaboration amongst various supply chain partners necessitates that we scrutinise the supply chain contexts at the knowledge level and move beyond assets, data and documentary information. I plan to propose to the attendees in Malta that there are indeed a number of knowledge management concepts that could be useful to supply chain,” said Sandvig.
LLA, which has achieved worldwide recognition for its contribution to developing the capacity and skills of supply chain and logistics professionals in both the commercial and humanitarian worlds, is one of a number of international organisations attending the 1st Logistics Managers & Practitioners Forum. Another notable international participant at the Forum will be the Chartered Institute of Professional Development, UK.
Supported by HSBC Commercial Banking Malta, the 1st Logistics Managers & Practitioners Forum takes place on the back of a Transport Managers & Practitioners Forum, which was held in October 2014 on the sidelines of Malta’s first transport and logistics awards, the Translog Awards.

TransLog events are organised by Support and Supply Management Group (SSM) and marketing communications agency BPC International. More information and prior registration for the two events can be made at 2123 1015 and http://comm@ssmgroup.com.
