Award in ADHD Adult Coaching Approach

Coaching adults with ADHD is becoming more prevalent internationally since this skill is highly valuable for many professionals in their work. It helps increase awareness of adult ADHD and its effect on personal and professional lives. ADHD Malta, in its work to promote inclusion, organises these training courses that are beneficial to both local professionals and the ADHD community.
The coaching skills learnt can be applied in their current employment: better communication, identifying unique challenges and strengths, exploring options, and putting strategies or models to use. These will make participants more effective and supportive in their work with clients, students or patients, and enable them to learn how to work together more productively.
This is the fifth time ADHD adult coach Marie Enbäck from Sweden will be coming to Malta to deliver the MFHEA-accredited course in ADHD Adult Coaching Approach (MQF 5, ECTS 5) since 2017. There is also an introductory lecture on the local background of ADHD,  the NGO ADHD Malta and the current European situation of people living with ADHD to be delivered by co-lecturer Carola Stivala.
Apply online with this form if you are interested: https://forms.gle/2y8h6tmNrnPRQPap6. Closing date for applications is 20 October. Applicants are subject to a selection process.
The course, being delivered in English, starts with 10 weekday sessions of compulsory lectures and workshops (either mornings from 9 a.m. to noon or afternoons from 3-6 p.m.) from 6 to 17 November* at STC Higher Education, Pembroke.
The complete course duration is three to six months and after the lectures/workshops,  the remaining course time is completed with self-study of the course material, two compulsory literature books, three written assignments and 12 hours peer coaching practice sessions. Participants will obtain an ‘Award in The ADHD Adult Coaching Approach’ certificate upon successful completion of the course attendance (85%) and assignments.
The course fee covers all course files and materials, a journal/notebook, the course Award Certificate, a group social activity on the last day of lectures, complimentary ‘professional’ membership of ADHD Malta and self-service refreshments  during breaks.

Testimonial

One person who attended last year’s course gave the following testimonial:
“As a counsellor working with adults dealing with ADHD, I quickly realised that traditional counselling had its limitations. While it could help with emotional and relationship issues, as well as boost self-esteem and awareness about ADHD challenges, it often fell short when it came to managing the core neurological condition and its symptoms. In my ten years of professional experience, I saw that empathy and insight could only go so far, especially for those grappling with executive functioning difficulties.
“So, I decided to enrol in the ADHD Coaching for Adults course offered by ADHD Malta and it was a game-changer. This course armed me with practical tools to better assist adults with ADHD. Coaching goes beyond traditional counselling by offering a more holistic approach to managing the condition and its symptoms. It focuses on strengths, helping adults with ADHD gain confidence and uncover their hidden talents, which often go unnoticed in other contexts.
“With coaching, adults with ADHD can develop strategies that actually motivate them and can be sustained over time. It also indirectly teaches them how to find their own solutions to their challenges, promoting independence and self-reliance.
“For me, ADHD coaching has become an indispensable addition to my professional toolkit. It enables me to support adults with ADHD much more effectively in my counselling practice. Additionally, it allows me to witness the remarkable strengths and unique qualities that people with ADHD possess. It’s truly an honour to see them flourish, regain control of their lives, achieve their goals and celebrate their individuality.
“I genuinely believe that ADHD coaching plays a crucial role in a comprehensive treatment plan for adults with ADHD. I encourage other professionals working with this population to explore this approach and discover its many benefits for managing ADHD.”
