95 vehicles and eScooters inspected during a St Julian’s roadside inspection

• 95 Y-plate vehicles were inspected. 8 infractions were found
• Escooter inspections – 41 infractions found
Transport Malta recently organized roadside inspections at the Pender Gardens spot check. The operation aimed to ensure compliance with road safety regulations and maintain the integrity of Malta’s transportation system.
A total of 95 vehicles with Y plates were meticulously inspected during the operation. The results of the inspections revealed several infractions requiring immediate attention.

Among the notable findings, three vehicles were discovered to be operating without the necessary tags, while one vehicle had issues with its lighting system. Furthermore, two vehicles were found parked in prohibited double yellow line areas, posing a potential hazard to road users. One vehicle was obstructing the carriage way, causing a disruption to traffic flow, and another vehicle was involved in an unauthorized sale.

In addition to the vehicle inspections, the operation also targeted Escooters, which have become increasingly popular on Malta’s roads. Several contraventions were issued for various violations, including one for illegal parking, one for entering a no-entry zone, and one for driving without a valid license. Nineteen instances of obstruction, where parked vehicles impeded the smooth movement of traffic, were noted. Fifteen individuals were found not wearing safety vests, exposing themselves to potential risks, and two vehicles were found parked in front of garages, causing inconvenience to residents.
Transport Malta’s commitment to ensuring road safety extended beyond the vehicle inspections. Officers were also present on foot patrol along the Sliema/San Ġiljan promenade.
Transport Malta continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of all road users and will remain vigilant in enforcing regulations to maintain a secure and efficient transportation network.
