New president for Malta Girl Guides

The Malta Girl Guides Association (MGG) has elected Karen Buttigieg, as its new president, succeeding Ms Dorothy Lapira, who has finished her six-year term in the post.
Ms Buttigieg has joined the movement at a young age as a Brownie with the Mosta group and has remained a member since. She gradually became a leader and took on more roles and responsibilities within the organisation over the ensuing years, especially contributing in the areas of training and programme development.
For the last 11 years, Ms Buttigieg has been a board and council member of the MGG due to her roles as International Commissioner and Deputy Chief Commissioner. Ms Buttigieg brings with her ample experience in education, training and advocacy and hopes to see the association become more and more influential in empowering the lives of girls and women in Malta, irrespective of their age, social situation, race, ability or culture. She is also currently a lecturer at the Department of Biology of the University of Malta Junior College.

On behalf of all its board, council and members, the MGG would like to thank Ms Lapira for her service as president of the association whilst wishing success to Ms Buttigieg in her new role as MGG president.

The MGG provides challenging opportunities that promote leadership in girls and women. Through fun and adventure, members discover and develop their potential whilst making a positive difference in their community.

Women and girls interested in joining the Girl Guiding movement should get in touch via email address info@maltagirlguides.com or through the association’s Facebook page.
