be.HOTEL has new General Manager at the helm
Aldo Calleja has recently been appointed as the new General Manager of the be.HOTEL at the Bay Street Tourist Complex in St Julian’s.
With 20 years of hands-on industry experience, Mr Calleja has been tasked with overseeing the recently approved expansion of be.HOTEL, which will have three more guest floors added on one wing and a multi-purpose facility that will enable the hotel to further enhance its offering to conference and incentives market.
“Following the recent total refurbishment of be.HOTEL and its rebranding strategy, the company will now embark on another multi-million euro investment that will enable it to further enhance its product offering for the corporate and conference market. Our ultimate aim remains that of having a four-star property with a five-star mentality,” Mr Calleja said.
The timelines are tight since the extension, including a 40 m2 addition to the reception area, has to be ready for a March 1, 2016, opening. There are to be eight new executive suites and the conference facilities will boast panoramic views of St George’s Bay.
“2016 is all set and planned and it is looking like being another record year for be.HOTEL and also for our partners – Preferred Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest independent hotel brand, representing more than 650 distinctive hotels, resorts, residences and unique hotel groups across 85 countries, which is also in the process of updating its social media platform,” the new General Manager said.
Starting out in Food and Beverage Operations with Corinthia Hotels International, Mr Calleja has worked his way up through the ranks in the hotel business and was involved in all the operations of running a hotel in Front Office management, Revenue management, Guest Services and Rooms Division.
From Corinthia, Mr Calleja moved to the Xara Palace Hotel as Room Division Manager responsible for Room Revenue Sales, Front Office Operations and Guest Relations, moving to Operations Manager within the company. His previous post was that of General Manager of the Park Hotel, where he was responsible for the entire operation of this four-star hotel in Sliema.
“My challenge is to live up to the expectations of the guests, business partners and owners while driving up guest satisfaction, revenue and profitability,” Mr Calleja said. “be.HOTEL has everything going for it, being in the centre of Malta’s top leisure and entertainment destination, St Julian’s, with logistics and position all in its favour.”
