Situation at Gozo General Hospital under control

Steward Malta would like to inform the public that the situation at the Gozo General hospital where a fire broke out, was rapidly brought under control and patients from both the male and female wards were returned to the hospital wards.

This was done after it was ascertained by hospital professionals that it was safe to do so for both patients and staff members. As stated in the first update, once the incident occurred, patients were immediately evacuated safely and transferred to the hospital’s Outpatients Department and to the Barts Medical School within the GGH campus. They are now back in the hospital’s wards.

Steward Malta would like to thank all its staff members as well as the hospital’s Emergency Response Team, which immediately activated its contingency plans. A big thanks goes to emergency teams including the CPD, Fire Department and Police forces for their prompt response on site.
