Xjenza Malta and Tangent Group launch ‘Christmas Bakes Marathon 2025’ to support
Fondazzjoni Sebħ’s Transitional Residences for youth leaving care
Xjenza Malta and the Tangent Group have announced the launch of the joint fundraising initiative the ‘Christmas Bakes Marathon 2025’ , to benefit Fondazzjoni Sebħ in its critical mission to empower young people transitioning out of residential care.
The two-day marathon event, spearheaded by the Tangent Group’s President, Marthese Micallef, will be held at the prestigious Villa Bighi this weekend. Contributions raised will directly support the development of vital semi-independent Transitional Residences by Fondazzjoni Sebħ.

For many young people, alternative care has been their entire childhood. As they approach adulthood, they deserve stability, dignity, and a strong foundation for their future.
Fondazzjoni Sebħ is developing these semi-independent residences to provide secure accommodation, continuous support, and guidance from professional mentors.
These residences will offer young adults the opportunity to continue their education while building essential life skills to enter the workforce. Hence, they remove the immediate hurdles of high rent, utility bills, and the risk of homelessness that these youths often face.
Ms Marthese Micallef, President of Tangent Group, stated, “We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive as they step into independence. The Christmas Bakes Marathon is a fun, community-focused way to provide very real, tangible support—a roof, a mentor, and a chance for a stable beginning—to these deserving youths. We are proud to stand with Xjenza Malta to make this project a reality.
From her end, Ms Kerry Hermitage, Senior Manager of Family Services within Fondazzjoni Sebħ, said that with this type of support we are in a position to help young people leaving residential care to have a better life and proper future.
Mr Silvio Scerri, CEO of Xjenza Malta, added that, “Xjenza Malta is proud to support Fondazzjoni Sebħ in strengthening young people preparing to leave residential care.
Partnering with Tangent Group on this marathon ensures these youths have every chance to enter adulthood with encouragement and a hopeful future. The investment we make today in stable housing and mentorship will yield positive returns for our entire community tomorrow.
“The ‘Christmas Bakes Marathon 2025’ invites the public and corporate entities to contribute to the success of this life-changing project. Through this joint effort, Xjenza Malta and the Tangent Group aim to ensure that these young adults can focus on building their lives without the immediate fear of insecurity.
