Childhood memories. A life-changing secret. And quadbikes chasing a Maltese sunset. This new trailer for one of the most anticipated plays of the year seems to have it all. 

Just a week ago (and five weeks before the production is to be staged at Spazju Kreattiv), 400 tickets for Clive Piscopo’s new play ‘Meta Ġrejna Wara x-Xemx’ were sold in the first 24 hours alone. The opening weekend is almost already sold out. 

Now the trailer for this play has landed, fuelling even more curiosity in the new story.

Why this interest in Piscopo’s new play? 

His previous one, Fejn Jeħodna r-Riħ, received 6 standing ovations in 2017 and audiences just loved the way Piscopo’s story had them in stitches only to startle them a moment later and glue them to their seats with one twist after another. 

The question is therefore automatic. What’s in store for the public with ‘Meta Ġrejna Wara x-Xemx’, which sees writer and actor Clive Piscopo team up again with director Lee-N Abela?

The trailer opens with a sweeping shot of Għadira Bay and five young children are seen running in the fields close to the green boathouses. Whoever was born in the 80s and 90s will immediately have the feels once they see five mischievous children running wild and free, without any care in the world. 

Fastforward a couple of years and now, instead of five children, the trailer shows 4 of them, now adults, trying to make peace with the past and the events that broke them apart. Their old leader is now dead and they haven’t spoken for twelve years. 

But what happens when the past and present collide in the most unexpected twists and turns? As they try to bury old hurts, can one final and shocking secret shatter the world as they know it? 

META ĠREJNA WARA X-XEMX will be staged on 18, 19, 20 u 24, 25, 26, 27 October and tickets can be purchased from www.kreattivita.org

Written by Clive Piscopo and directed by Lee-N Abela, the cast includes Clive Piscopo, Sarah Camilleri, Christine Francalanza, Christian Grech, and Claire Buhagiar as well as  Maria Farrugia, Maronia Mallia, Luke Magro, Gilbert Mallia, u Nathan Aquilina.
