Esplora, Xjenza Malta and The Malta Trust Foundation sign MoU to enhance inclusive learning
The Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research, and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, has overseen the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Esplora, Xjenza Malta and The Malta Trust Foundation. This partnership is dedicated to strengthening inclusive and accessible educational experiences through structured, outcomes-oriented sessions at Esplora’s multi-sensory room.

The initiative aims to ensure meaningful engagement for visitors on the autism spectrum and others with specific needs. Led by qualified arts practitioners, the programme reflects a modern approach to innovation, focusing not only on technology but on designing services that promote social inclusion. This collaboration serves as a strategic model for how public institutions and civil society can work together to deliver dignity and equal opportunity.
In his intervention, Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti maintained that such collaborations create a tangible impact on the community. “When institutions collaborate in this way, they create real impact: better access, stronger participation, and improved experiences for citizens. This initiative is central to building a fairer and more inclusive society,” emphasized the Parliamentary Secretary.
Her Excellency President Emeritus Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, Founder and Chairperson of The Malta Trust Foundation, welcomed the agreement as a concrete commitment to inclusion in action. She stated that, “Through this collaboration at Esplora Interactive Science Centre, we are ensuring that children and adults with diverse needs are not only accommodated, but actively empowered through specialist, high-quality sensory and arts-based experiences. This is a strong model of how public institutions and civil society can work together to deliver dignity, access, and equal opportunity in practice.”
Mary Ann Cauchi, Esplora Senior Director, also commented on the evolution of the centre, noting that the collaboration reflects a deep commitment to making science and learning accessible to all. Esplora continues to grow as a hub for STEAM education, reaching diverse communities in ways that embrace creativity and community engagement.
This project is part of Esplora’s ongoing strategic development and upcoming projects for 2026. It underscores the Government’s continuous commitment to widening the scope of science engagement, ensuring that national educational facilities are designed to respond to the real needs of all citizens.
