Educational visit to Pembroke Reverse Osmosis

“Water is a precious and limited resource in Malta and should be used judiciously”. This was the prime message imparted by HSBC representatives on behalf of HSBC Water Programme – Catch the Drop campaign to 36 Italian secondary school students from Tuscany during a visit at the Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant in Pembroke. Accompanied by their teachers, the group of students were shown around the plant and informed about the mechanical process through which seawater is rendered into potable and safe water for human consumption. The theme is now serving as a platform for discussion between the Italian students and their Maltese counterparts from St Ignatius Girls’ Secondary School of Ħandaq, who also followed a similar site visit.
