Shireburn Software scooped up the award for the best Business-to-Business Application at the Malta Communications Authority eBusiness Awards, held yesterday 1st December. The solution that won the award was Shireburn’s Concessionaire Analyzer+ (CA+), a web-based application that allows airports to better manage, control and ultimately boost their non-aeronautical revenue performance. The innovative solution, developed and supported by Shireburn Software, is a world first and is marketed globally by the Shireburn team.

“It is undoubtedly an achievement for the team to obtain recognition for a lot of hard work that goes into defining, developing and supporting our solution to match international airport market’s needs. It has been quite a journey for Shireburn over the past 31 years, excelling in the development and support of business software solutions for local businesses, whilst extending its reach internationally by creating software products for niche global markets. I am extremely proud of our team and its accomplishments” commented John de Giorgio, Managing Director, Shireburn Software.

Shireburn wins best B2B App AwardCA+ has been conceived entirely by Shireburn and all development, implementation and support is carried out by its local team. Mr de Giorgio believes that Shireburn’s success lies in the ability to seek out and identify niche market opportunities and create applications that allow businesses to automate and streamline their processes, enabling more efficient business operations, ultimately improving performance and the bottom line.

Shireburn’s CA+ solution is implemented currently at Copenhagen International Airport, Saint Maarten in the Caribbean, Gibraltar International Airport, Malta International Airport and is currently being deployed at Iceland’s Keflavik International Airport as well as having a very strong pipeline of other projects.

CA+ is a web based solution that enables airports to better control, manage and boost their non-aeronautical revenues that emerge from commercial activities within the airport itself, such as retail, F&B and car parking amongst others. These revenue sources are becoming increasingly important to airport profitability.

The adjudication for the MCA award was carried out by a specifically set up independent evaluation committee comprised of representatives of academia, industry and government. The winners for a number of category were announced yesterday evening at an awards ceremony organised by the MCA and held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

This was the fourth edition of the MCA eBusiness Awards, singled out as a unique annual event of its kind in Malta because it is the only award that acknowledges the use of technology in the entrepreneurial efforts of individuals and organizations. A well-established industry forum, these awards bring together talented ICT professionals to recognise innovative and unique business initiatives that blend technology with entrepreneurial flair.
