Parliamentary Secretary for Finance and Digital Economy Visits IFS Malta

The Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services and Digital Economy, Clayton Bartolo, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Institute of Financial Services Malta (IFS Malta).

The Parliamentary Secretary was given a tour of the premises and briefed on the Institute’s professional heritage of close to sixty years, the array of educational programmes and academic qualifications it facilitates together with the various other activities it organises. 

During discussions with members of the Committee, Parliamentary Secretary Bartolo acknowledged the valid contribution that IFS Malta makes towards one of the most important sectors of our economy. The Institute has the credibility and necessary experience to promote greater professionalism and good governance in financial services and this will contribute to strengthening Malta’s reputation in the area of financial services.

Kenneth B. Micallef, IFS Malta President stated that the Institute has continued operating during the pandemic and has successfully adopted online training. The Institute also orgainsed a virtual seminar which was well received. He explained that the Institute has plans in place to continue to enhance its portfolio by introducing other innovative qualifications focused on digital services and financial crime compliance. 

The visit ended with a discussion about the future and how IFS Malta can cooperate and contribute to government initiatives in financial services and digitalisation.
