Pianist and aerospace engineer Leonardo Barilaro has released his new EP “PLANO CAUDA”, a journey through dark meditative space music for piano and minimal electronic. This music channels the sad glimmering that is inside everyone, being part of human nature, and that is nearly taboo to show in our modern society.

The ghost of human struggles, hustling inside the grand piano vibrations, finds all of a sudden the lid open and go around for a stroll. This is represented by the majestic artwork, designed by talented visual artist Chiara Rovoletto.

The title of the EP was created hybridizing words with a poetic licence from Latin language to describe the grand piano and from Portuguese to refer to the vertical stabilizer in the tail section an aircraft, used to manoeuvre in the air.

This music is not for everyone, since it requires patience in the listening, due also to contemporary techniques used, such as percussion of the strings using the hands, and requires accepting to go out for a while from the boxes defined by social media, where only good smiles and happy appearances are usually shared online.

The videoclip of the track “Grains of Sorrow” was shot at the House of Pianos in Dubai, on a stunning Steinway Spirio Crown Jewels limited edition.

Since the start of the Covid19 pandemic the Italian pianist Leonardo Barilaro, based in Malta, produced and released 5 EPs and 12 singles, developing his contemporary space music genre. At the beginning of the year Leonardo released a tribute to Anathema, in collaboration with metal queen Mariangela Demurtas (lead singer of Tristania), and in June a jazztronica composition with legendary drummer Marco Minnemann.
