‘Quiet Sun’ – new release by international pianist

International pianist and aerospace engineer Leonardo Barilaro releases ‘Quiet Sun’ videoclip, new single of its experimental concept ‘SeaSharp’, where the composer unites piano and synth describing the Sea as symbol of our life path.
Quiet Sun features the rising star of contemporary fusion dance Thea Cunningham and talented guitarist Marino Di Nino.
The key of the piece is in the opening sentence of the video: Stepping outside into the chill of the Future.
Growing up all of us have the tendency to map linearly the projection of the road along our personal time line. Linearity assumptions in science research work great and it is fair enough thinking that if in one hour we can read 10 pages of a book we will read 20 pages in 2 hours.

But here is the tricky part, all our perceptual systems display a non-linear relationship between external stimulus and internal representation. If we double the force on our hand, it will feel like less than double the pressure. If we double the salinity of water, the taste will not be twice as salty. This includes stimuli to all senses: vision, hearing, taste, touch, and smell.
Our ears perceive sounds and so music in a logarithmic way, so do our eyes with the light and stellar magnitude, like the one of our Sun, is measured on a logarithmic scale. Our sensory perception must allow us to efficiently represent the statistical distributions of the natural universe we live in.
In the video it is explored the relation between the actual change in a physical stimulus and the perceived change.

When in Life we work for a long time to reach our Dreams, our targets, what we get is usually never in the way we expected it and we feel puzzled by the roads we took to arrive there, perceiving a sort of chilling effect on our souls.
In Quiet Sun music and dance are 2 taoistic opposite polarities, far beyond the simplistic concept of good or bad. The two opposite poles are needed to create movement, as always in Nature. This effect is also obtained by the contrast between the first introspective, sharply in the shadow set and the second one, flowing relentlessly in the sun light.
To paint these concepts and symbols the video sees also starring 4 different artists: Özlem Başman, Vanessa Bugeja, Olha Ivashchuk and Simona Sidel. Each one of them follow different paths, interacting with the 2 poles of attraction, Thea for the dance and Leonardo for the music.
This challenging video project is masterfully realized by BLEND production, directed by Marley Lagana, and developed in collaboration with the maltese international jazz club STOREROOM, supported and sponsored by Monink Tattoo Studio, Hair Bands Malta and The Skincare Culture.
