Dun René Cilia: for adults and children alike

Every year the Għaqda seeks to commemorate a Maltese writer, and this year it will recall the second year since Dun René Cilia passed away. Four authors that were friends of his – John Bonello, Rita Saliba, Mark Camilleri and Donovan Gatt – will be reading some excerpts and poems that were written by him. The excerpts will be read from two of his novels (Is-Saltna tal-Ħamsin and Ħalluhom Jgħidu l-Kbar), while the poems are taken from the book Qasir il-Għomor. The manuscript Ħalluhom Jgħidu l-Kbar won a special prize in the first edition of the Konkors Rumanzi għaż-Żgħażagħ. During this Festival, some of his writings will be appearing for the first time ever.

The activity will be held on Wednesday, 12th November, starting from 20:30 at Sir Temi Zammit Hall (MCC) in Valletta, during the National Book Festival. There is no entrance fee, and the readings are suitable for people of all ages. Everybody is welcome to join us for some refreshment after the reading.

The activity is coordinated by the Għaqda tal-Malti – Università with the support of Klabb Kotba Maltin.
