The Vodafone Malta Foundation extends its support to FITA

For the second year in a row the Vodafone Malta Foundation is supporting FITA in its mission to improve the quality of life of persons with disability.  The idea behind the partnership started in 2012.  The project makes use of the benefits that mobile technology can bring to persons with disability, having a direct positive impact on their standard of living.  “This is at the core of what the Vodafone Malta Foundation stands for,” emphasised the Chairperson, Gemma Mifsud Bonnici.

The project looks at increasing accessibility to persons with disability through the part sponsorship of mobile technology.  This year a further 19 visually impaired and deaf persons are set to benefit through the purchase of a smart phone and upgrading of their phones through funds provided through the Vodafone Malta Foundation.

“This initiative is distinctive in that it seeks to empower disabled persons to avail of accessible goods and services which place them at an equal level with their non-disabled peers.” said Mifsud Bonnici. “Disabled persons rely more heavily on ICT because in many instances, it is not only simply convenient but it actually makes tasks achievable, granting them access to information services, education and employment.”

The Vodafone Malta Foundation is committed to providing the use of mobiles for good and what better place to start then to make the lives of those living with a disability easier.
