GASANMAMO WALKS FOR THE MALTA COMMUNITY CHEST FUND

Employees gear-up for the 2016 El Camino walks, with a charity walk and picnic

As part of their on-going community out-reach, a group of GasanMamo Insurance employees together with their families and friends, participated in a charity walk and picnic on Sunday 6th March 2016. The walk and picnic were held to raise awareness for the El Camino de Santiago for the Maltese Community Chest Fund walks, which are taking place in May 2016.
Met with perfect walking weather, the participants kicked-off the day at the Verdala Palace and proceeded towards the picnic destination to Għar il-Kbir also know as Clapham Junction. Over a bite to eat, participants took the opportunity to share stories from last year’s El Camino walks, and discuss the upcoming walks in May. Some very keen walkers continued to trek towards Ta’ Żuta the highest point of Malta.
“GasanMamo is committed to giving back to the community,” said Julian J. Mamo Managing Director at GasanMamo. “Throughout the years our employees have showed their altruism through a number of activities: from participating in last year’s President’s Charity Fun Run to most recently hosting a fundraising Ftira Day to raise money for Inspire. What better way, than the El Camino walks, for our employees to show their care for the community and support for the MCCF, by raising awareness through adventure”.

The Camino de Santiago is the name of any pilgrimage route to the shrine of the apostle
St James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the north-west of Spain. Last year the group Camini Amo organised three walks, with each participant raising money for the MCCF.
The MCCF helps a broad number of organisations and people from fund assistance to NGOs with social and infrastructure missions, to arranging white goods and food vouchers for financially struggling students, and providing medical and financial assistance to cancer-sufferers and their families. The majority of donations raised by the MCCF go towards chemotherapy and specialised medicine, not given through state aid. Further to this, the MCCF offers assistance to people with special needs by making medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and motorised beds, available to them. GasanMamo recognises the social responsibility that corporations have towards the social well-being of the community, and are continually advocating in this arena.
