Park & Ride Service for Imnarja

In collaboration with the Parliamentary Secretariat for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Agricultural Research and Development Centre (MSDEC), local bus company Arriva Malta will be providing a park and ride service between Rabat, Mġarr, Dingli and Buskett for the benefit of all those who traditionally attend the celebrations of l-Imnarja on the 28th June 2013.

The park and ride shuttle service will run between from 1700 to 2400 on Friday, and patrons will be able to purchase tickets on the bus, whereas parking will be free of charge.

The feast of l-Imnarja commemorates two important saints in Maltese religious lore (St. Peter and St. Paul) and is a crowd celebration held yearly on the eve of the public holiday in the woodland of Buskett. During the late afternoon hours, numerous horse and donkey races are held in the area  where the contenders vie for the Palju (a traditional banner that is presented as a trophy to the winners of various categories of races) which in olden times used to be presented to the winners by non-other than the Grand Master of the Order.

The organisers and Arriva encourage all those attending the celebrations to use public transport either directly from their locality or indeed the park and ride shuttle service from Rabat to Buskett to avoid the traffic congestion and the associated hassles (parking, etc) that regretabbly often  characterises this widely popular celebration.
