Always on the lookout for new and undiscovered driving destinations, the Paqpaq crew recently visited Cyprus, courtesy of Emirates Airline and Cyprus Tourism Organisation, to explore the options this wonderful destination offers to those looking for a different driving holiday.

Capturing the magic of Cyprus towns and villages, the producer and presenter Tonio Darmanin will be featuring a number of hassle–free driving routes on his programme Paqpaq.

Thanks to Emirates’ daily flights from Malta to Cyprus, one can easily plan a holiday according to their preference, whether it is just for a weekend break or for a longer stay, even at the last minute; the duration of the flight to Larnaka is just over two hours.  Emirates A340-300 aircraft provides an award-winning inflight service by its international cabin crew.

Cyprus offers a wide range of tourist accommodation from luxurious hotels and resorts to a range of restored rural dwellings fitted with all modern amenities and comfort whilst retaining their original charm and warmth such as Cyprus Villages, in areas such as Tochni and Kalavasos. The island’s size makes it ideal to choose such locations as a home base. This allows tourists to organise visits to different locations with scenic views, varying from snow-covered mountains to secluded sandy beaches, while returning to their preferred home base for the night. Cyprus’ impressive and varied cultural background also provides numerous historic sites.

Hiring a car in Cyprus could not be easier as, apart from the fact that Cypriots drive on the same left hand side as in Malta, the roads are well signposted in English and very well kept. This makes Cyprus an ideal destination even for Maltese holidaymakers considering a driving holiday for the first time.

The island boasts an excellent network of quality roads as well as extensive country roads making every corner of the island accessible. This gives the visitor a wide variety of destination routes to programme and to plan a different experience each day.

Driving in Cyprus is bound to involve stops at the many enchanting villages where traditional tavernas offer fresh and tasty mezes complemented by a wide selection of Cypriot wines. Visitors will also find a host of activities that can be included in their itinerary including, cycling, horse riding, trekking, jeep safaris and diving.

This season the Paqpaq crew will be showing all this and more on their Tuesday programme on starting from 09.50pm on TVM2.
