Maison Louis Jadot Wine and Dine

Burgundy wines from Maison Louis Jadot were the stars of a well-attended wine and dine evening organised recently by Attard & Co. Ltd’s Wines and Spirits division.

The evening at Essence Restaurant at the Radisson Golden Sands was warmly hosted by the Maison’s Export Manager, Philibert de Vregille, who introduced the guests to the region of Burgundy, the Louis Jadot winery, and its wide range of Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays.

The dining guests enjoyed a five-course meal with each course perfectly matched with a purposely selected Louis Jadot wine. One of the highlights of the evening was the tasting of the Beaune Premier Cru ‘Clos des Ursules’ 2008, a fine example of a premium Burgundy Pinot Noir, which was greatly appreciated by the wine lovers present.

This wine usually undergoes a fairly long fermentation (25 to 33 days) in order to extract colour, tannins and aromas. The different Premier Crus are vinified separately and then aged in wooden barrels for 15-18 months, with the blending taking pace at the end of the vinification.

The Beaune Premier Cru ‘Clos des Ursules’ is a full, firm and rich wine perfectly balancing elegance and power. It has a slightly earthy bouquet and a long, lush finish. This is a wine that will age well in a cellar (10-15 years) in good conditions.

During his stay Mr de Vregille also conducted a Louis Jadot wine tasting at Sistina Wine & Co. in Gzira and a wine pairing dinner at Vini e Capricci in Gozo.
