
Driving the point home
Vodafone Malta has launched a social message campaign in an effort to remind people to act responsibly in a number of situations. The first phase of the public service announcement campaign is running on radios and reminds drivers to use communication technology safely while driving. The main message that the campaign is promoting is that texting and driving simultaneously is not multi-tasking but a person would simply be driving blindly. By taking your eyes off the road even for a few seconds you are making the road less safe for you, your passengers and other drivers.
Vodafone’s PSA campaign is being aired on Maltese radios in Maltese and English and will eventually also go online. Radio deejays Ben Glover and Dorian Cassar are the voices of the campaign. Both deejays expressed their satisfaction at being part of this campaign. “Although we all know that we should be using technology safely in our cars, Vodafone has had a great idea to remind us all of the ramifications if we don’t. We are truly proud to be part of this campaign,” they said.
As a market leader in mobile telephony Vodafone is highly sensitive to its responsibilities towards society. Vodafone has even launched an internal campaign which is in line with Vodafone’s Vision to build a culture of Health, Safety and wellbeing both within the company and outside the company. “We are really excited about this initiative. Fully aware of how mobile telephony and ancillary products and service have become an important aspect of people’s lives we want to make sure of providing both our customers and the public at large with the required tools to use technology safely,” said Miriam Dalli from Vodafone Malta. “We are confident that this campaign will drive more awareness and we intend to develop this further in the near future.”
Aware of its responsibilities towards society Vodafone Malta hopes to lead by example and to further channel its CSR commitments with new initiatives that can take effective root among the Maltese public.
This campaign has been created to focus on socially responsible action and behaviour in the endeavor to sensibilise citizens and elicit attitudes that reflect respect for oneself and for others.
