Debenhams launches mastectomy bra
Makes donation to Europa Donna Malta
Following the successes of its Breast Cancer Awareness Week activities, Debenhams launched a range of industry leading mastectomy bras. These are designed to provide comfort and confidence for women who underwent the operation.
Debenhams mastectomy bras are the product of dedicated research and design with the aim of providing the very latest and best in bra technology. These initiatives represent important strides towards enhancing social awareness and importing the quality and availability of bra technology in Malta.
As part of its ongoing support for breast health awareness, Debenhams also made a donation to the Breast Care Support Group, Europa Donna Malta, raised through various in-store activities during Breast Cancer Awareness Week.
Europa Donna Malta spokesperson Gertrude Abela said the non-profit organisation valued Debenhams’s donation as “an important step towards setting up a centrally located head office from where to provide free private consultation”.
Ms Abela also said the Breast Cancer Awareness Week activities organised by Debenhams, such as the successful in-store Zumba activity, was “most effective at increasing public awareness about this serious issue”.
Nearly 250 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Malta every year, said Ms Abela. This unhappy statistic is a call for women to look after their breast health with regular check-ups and care of any symptoms.
“Debenhams is sensitive to breast care in women, which is why we offer free bra fit consultations all year round,” said Debenhams’ Assistant Sales Manager Janice Portelli. “A good-fitting bra is the basic care every woman should secure herself.”
“Debenhams’ advanced technology is now providing a mastectomy bra to help women feel more comfortable and confident at a time when it is quite natural to feel insecure. The Debenhams lingerie team is receiving specialised training to offer an informed service on mastectomy bras and assist each customer in acquiring a bra that suits their individual needs.”
