Following the PN’s dismal results in Saturday local council elections, Simon Busuttil had this to say: “It is on communications that the PN has failed badly. As a result, it has alienated voters and eroded their trust. We must regain people’s trust. Otherwise, we are doomed.”
See the rest of his reported comments here.
And yet on Sunday all I heard were PN politicians gloating because Labour only gained 150 votes. Of course, all this attempt at putting a brave face on things was belied by the rows and rows of positively glum faces behind the Prime Minister during his press conference. I suggest that communication, like charity, should begin at home. The first thing which should be communicated to all PN representatives is to please stop talking and spouting rubbish because hardly anyone except the most blinkered is buying their spin any more.
Meanwhile, let’s take a peek over to the other side where, despite winning the majority of votes, they really don’t have that much to celebrate if you ask me. If he is honest with himself, Muscat should be asking why people still preferred to stay at home rather than vote Labour.
Just as much as voters wanted to drive home a message to the present administration, they wanted to send an equally strong message to the Opposition.
And if our politicians are still having trouble understanding what people are saying, we’re all quite ready to pitch in and buy them a whole consignment of hearing aids.
