Don’t call us….we definitely won’t call you
The political parties are at it again today, bugging people to vote, asking them whether they intend to vote and generally pestering them to “do their duty”. Someone phoned me this morning asking if I needed transport – how thoughtful, how kind, how completely invasive of my privacy can you get?
What’s next – a microchip implanted under our skin to track our whereabouts on voting day so that they can hunt us down, kidnap us and forcefully make us enter the polling station?
I have news for them all – this is having the completely opposite effect. You are simply annoying people, and those who were of two minds whether to even bother leaving the house in this miserable weather to vote in the local council elections, are now so completely teed off that they are staying home deliberately.
So do yourselves a favour, and leave people alone. Whoever really wants to vote will do so. As for the non-voters, you’re simply irritating the hell out of them.
When you need every vote you can get, is that really such a wise move?
